Teasers The Slow Mover The answer is Niagara Falls. It is estimated that the falls started about seven miles further downstream and have cut their way through the rock. They have therefore moved upstream moved upstream at a rate of several feet a year since. Conundrums The Frustrated Policemen The criminal's house was built on the border between Venezuela and Columbia. Although his front door and his kitchen are in Venezuela his bedroom lies in Columbia. The Venezaelian police have no jurisdiction in Columbia so they cannot arrest him while he stays in his bedroom. One Clock The man wound his clock and set it at a random time before he left. He noted the exact time of his arrival at, and departure from, his friend's house. He noted the time showing on his own clock when he got home. He walked the same route at the same pace on his two journeys. The elapsed time on his clock at home was the duration of the two journeys and the length of his visit to his friend. Knowing the time he spent with his friend he subtracts this from the elapsed time on his clock and divides the result in two to calculate the time of each journey. He adds this to the exact time he left his friends house in order to set his clock at the correct time. For example, assume he set his clock at 12:00, arrived at his friend's house at 6:30 and left at 7:30. When he arrived home his clock showed 4:00. His journey then took one and a half hours and the correct time was 9:00. Puzzles The Two Sentries Although the guards where looking in opposite directions they were not back to back. They were facing each other.
